I just loved photographing this work at Naropa University. “By Any Other Name” by Jade Garisch, Teresa Veramendi, and Chie Saito combined theater, movement, and social commentary. That is pretty much a trifecta for me! Plus, I got to be really interactive while photographing the piece.
As a Colorado theater photographer, I usually stay in the audience and photograph a whole show from the front of the stage. Teresa, Chie & Jade encouraged me to use the full stage and not worry about getting in their faces. I was all over the place, shooting from every angle. It really helped me connect with the piece on another level.
