I think it’s time for another throwback post! Colorado opera photography is something I’m missing so much these days. I especially miss photographing performances on stage. You’ll probably be seeing a lot of these throwback posts but I don’t want to just post the headshots I’m currently doing. Performance and event photography still has a big place in my heart, even though these events aren’t happening much these days. It’s actually a great opportunity to share some of my older work so we can all relive the days of watching live theater, opera, and dance!

Colorado Opera Photography | The Magic Flute

This performance of The Magic Flute at Central City Opera was from 2018. I photographed it as an associate photographer for the amazing Amanda Tipton Photography. This was such a fun show! Having kids in the cast made it that much more playful and joyful. The kids even got to do the floss as part of the show! I couldn’t resist making a gif of it. I’ll include that at the bottom of the post.

One of my photos from this show was chosen for a full-page ad in the Denver Post! I still have that issue tucked away somewhere! Also, fun fact: Kira Dills-DeSurra was in this show and that fall, she joined Opera Colorado as an Artist in Residence. I ended photographing her as part of the program for the next two years. Plus, she lived in Chicago for a bit so we bonded over that a lot.
