I have been working with this amazing mother as a second photographer for about a year now, so when I asked if I could join her in the delivery room with my camera, she already trusted me and my work. Photographing a birth was an incredible experience. I have photographed in hospitals and ORs before but I’d never been a part of a birth aside from my own (which I don’t remember much of :P).
I’m not sure births ever go according to plan. Mama V wasn’t planning on having a natural birth, but that’s what ended up happening and she rocked it! Baby V was out in minutes, so fast that I almost missed it! She was born at 7:11am happy, healthy, and with a full head of hair. It was very empowering to see someone work through so much to bring a new life into this world.
I loved seeing the family’s reactions to their newest addition. Baby V’s brother was hesitant at first, but soon warmed right up to her. Next month, I’ll be photographing this wonderful family again for a post-nap time session. I can’t wait to show you those photos too!
