I was going through some older photos and I happened upon the images from Opera Colorado’s Poetry Workshop last season. This workshop for high school students engaged all the senses and was full of inspiration.

At Converge Denver in RiNo, the Opera Colorado Young Artists performed and a live artists painted in response. Scarlet Letter librettist and Colorado’s Poet Laureate Emeritus, David Mason, spoke about the text of The Scarlet Letter. There was a popcorn station with toppings like M&Ms and parmesan. There were giant pads of paper, crayons, and markers so the students could draw out what they were thinking and feeling. All the while, they were creating original poems inspired by The Scarlet Letter and their surroundings.
