Last summer, Dr. Angelica, the on-site doctor at Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival, approached me for updated doctor headshots. As we both work there seasonally, she needed photos to utilize beyond the festival. My typical branding headshot sessions in Denver are in urban areas and city parks which offer a kaleidoscope of colors, textures, and architectural elements to weave into the compositions. However, Jacob’s Pillow, nestled in the woods of the Berkshires, presents a different set of challenges and opportunities.
Doctor Headshots in Nature
Jacob’s Pillow’s campus is such a different backdrop than what I’m used to here in Denver. It’s lush and green and beautiful but it’s harder to find that variety I get in the city. I’ve spent a lot of time wandering the grounds and finding spots that highlight the natural beauty, while also working with my headshot style.
Dr. Angelica takes a holistic approach to medicine and wanted to incorporate more of nature into her photos. Because of this, I scouted locations that juxtaposed the organic beauty of the surroundings with elements that would complement Dr. A’s professional demeanor. Collaborating with Dr. A amidst this natural splendor was a delightful experience. We were able to seamlessly integrate her essence with the enchanting backdrop.

The resulting doctor headshots encapsulated not only Dr. A’s professionalism but also the serenity she works to provide each of her patients. Each image resonated with authenticity and warmth, a testament to both the subject’s poise and the picturesque setting of the natural world. As I head back to Jacob’s Pillow this week, I look forward to working with more of my collegues to update their headshots too!
