Alison is Boulder’s Breakthrough Artist! She uses art to help women of all ages tell their story, learn more about themselves, and feel empowered. I loved connecting with her and talking to her about her work because this is exactly what I am striving to do with my Boulder headshot photography! I wholeheartedly believe that art is such a powerful tool that can be used to transform people’s lives and the world. I love seeing other women in my community using art for good.
Alison runs the Honey Beadery, an energetic, innovative, creative art studio and garden. She hosts workshops and classes, and creates gorgeous work of her own. Her workshops are perfect for self-aware, open, and curious women who are interested in learning more about themselves. They are more than just craft events, they are a form of art therapy. Participants create beaded work while exploring themselves on a deeper level, through Alison’s guidance.
We chose to do her personal branding headshots in her studio and garden since the place is so integral to her work. Her studio is amazing! It is full of light and bright colors. There are art supplies everywhere. I think it might be heaven. Her garden so clearly shows the love she has put into it. It is lush and beautiful. She went to Alchemy Face Bar for her make and did her own hair since she used to be a hairdresser. She looked amazing, don’t you think? I also loved the outfits she brought to the session. The bright colors she chose helped make the portraits so joyful and brought out the blue in her eyes so well. And since she makes jewelry, she picked out bracelets, earrings, and necklaces to go with each outfit.
